Teys Bros have recently completed a major upgrade of their Naracoorte Abattoir cattle lairage and cattle yards to the approval of world cattle psychology expert, Dr Temple Grandin. Atlex has been involved with the design and construction within a very confined area using an existing shed, formerly a sheep lairage. Teys have installed floor sprinklers under a heavy mesh floor as a part of their world class facilities.

Atlex Stockyards has been involved throughout the entire cattle yard and lairage development, which includes a “tear drop” force to the knocking box using electrically controlled gates. Walkways are used for Occupational Health and Safety separation of operators and cattle. Atlex cam-operated manways have been incorporated for ease of movement and safety.

The new force and lairage were commissioned on 6th March after extensive integration work. The results were immediate, with ease and speed and little stress to cattle and operators.
